DMMPC celebrated National Pickleball month today with open play for its members at VCC. Everyone was welcome to create their own special ice cream sundae and or root beer float. On the skills court, several people tested their abilities at serve accuracy, serve depth, return accuracy, return depth and third shot drop. When the smoke cleared, Grazia and Carol tied for first and had a dink off to determine the overall winner which Carol won. Each walked away with a special prize. There were drawings throughout the afternoon with 18 players walking away with prizes from the selection table. Prizes ranged from paddles, balls and DMMPC hats to bags, Fanny packs and a mug. Everyone had a good time and, more importantly, nearly 4 gallons of ice cream was turned into sundaes and floats. Be watching for the next member event in May!

This 5 week elective program led by Erik Heard has a full complement of players every week. DMMPC members have been monitoring play, making suggestions, reminding players about specific rules and even getting in on the competition. It is fantastic to see players at this level many of whom will undoubtedly continue playing well into their 80’s! 😎
